A Small Tracked Inspection Robot with Pan and Tilt Camera made by SuperDroid Robots – Into Robotics

Each time when SuperDroid Robots release a new robot, I expect to be well constructed and easy to use. The new robot released by SuperDroid is an inspector robot with pan and tilt camera priced at $1,280.99. It’s not cheap and is not a toy. And even I don’t have one for review, I suspect the guys to build a super hardy robot for inspection in tight spaces. The Tracked Inspection Robot with Pan and Tilt Camera made by SuperDroid RobotsThe Tracked Inspection Robot with Pan and Tilt Camera made by SuperDroid Robots

The robot is small. It has a footprint of 9.5 X 6.75 inch (24.13 X 17 cm). With such dimensions, the robot can be carried in a backpack or a handbag. The central feature is a wide view color 7 IR camera attached by a pan-and-tilt system. The camera works in both dark and light places.

The robot is controlled wirelessly with an RC controller while the real-time video images can be seen on a small LCD screen.

As you can guess, the chassis of the robot is made from aluminum and not made from a cheap plastic that crack at the first kick.

Each track is driven by two 12VDC RPM gear motors. The manufacturer claims that the robot can go over most terrain with an additional payload of 5lbs (2.2 Kg).

The battery with a capacity of 2200 mAh provides up to 2 hours of operation. Of-course, the operation time depends on how the robot is used.
