After seeing how the insane robot WildCat sprints around like a real animal, the day when robots behave like live animals seems inevitable.
Well, now German scientists have created the most advanced robot that can walk across uneven terrains.
According to the brilliant engineers at German’s Biomechatronics and Control Laboratory, their insect-inspired robot features flexible and adaptive leg coordination.
The system considers all the six legs separate agents, and each leg decides when to swing and stance. With animal-like reflexes, the HECTOR robot can handle obstacles across uneven terrain.
Each leg is actuated by three custom-made compliant join drives fitted with embedded electronics. In other words, the legs exchange minimal information about their current states.
HECTOR is clearly one of the most advanced six-legged robots and an incredible piece of work for everything that happens from now on.
