Building your own hexapod robot is great, but making something on your personal style or taste is the best thing in the DIY culture.
One of the best hexapod robots that I have ever seen is the creation of David Henderson. The creature is an autonomous robot designed to track an object colored in pink.
The hexapod can detect an object and the distance to the object. It has smooth movements and reacts to the user actions. It walks backwards if the object is closer to him and goes forward if the object moves away from it.
