A team of researchers from the Laval University Robotics Laboratory in Canada and the Department of Space Technologies of the Canadian Space Agency has come up with another way for a Mars robot to get around.
The robot is named PROMPT for the mobility of the platform. The aim of this project is to develop specific solutions for planetary exploration.
The search for life on Mars will evolve at the down of 2020 with cheap and small sized robot. The robot is designed with the adaptability and energy efficiency of walking mechanism. A mechanism engineered for rough terrains with large areas of rocks that are very sharp.
The platform has only two motors able to actuate the six legs. The control is also simplified and according to specifications for space missions.
